Street photographs, photojournalism, or fine art?
Jan 07, 2008 at 11:09
You know how when you take photos at night they come out over-exposed or blurry? Or how you cut off people's heads? Or how when you have a photo with a famous person, you always look hideous and don't want to show it off? That's why there are people called Professional Photographers (not including that guy with the bad hair from Exclusive Photography, although as if you don't want him to dress you in velveteen, perm your hair and Vaseline up the lens for you one day). Alex Webb is one of those people who has managed to make a living travelling the world and taking fabulous photos.
Born in 1952 Alex Webb's work has been featured in National Geographic, Time and the New York Times Magazine, he has won a bazillion awards and has had his photographs exhibited all over America. Travelling extensively through Central and South America, and Europe, Webb says that "You have to go out and explore the world with a camera".

Meanwhile, how good is that main image? It's a photo of Mexican people being aressted for trying to enter the US illegally. It's one of the best photos ever. As voted by me.

Have to agree. Main image is awesome. Incredible to think its not a pre conceived and contrived image, but rather an actual moment captured for prosperity.
