| A life story in photos |

When my daughter Alison was born, in the tradition of a new parent,
I began to photograph her, initially in a separate and private body of
work. However, in the process of documenting Alison's growth, I
developed a passionate interest in human relationships and capturing
intimate moments in the lives of family and friends. - Jack Radcliff
In documenting the various stages of his daughter's life, Jack Radcliffe has granted us a privileged window into Alison's private world. The progression of these images is truly fascinating. Each image tells part of the story of a young girl trying to work it all out and find her place in the world.

interesting but right now it looks a little eerie also... i think its just because of the news breaking about the austrian dad/ daughter locked in creepy dark dungeon story. ... maybe thats just me

I don't find it creepy at all. If i went to my mum's place right now i'm sure there's a shoebox full of photos of me as a kid at various stages. Only difference is she's not a pro photographer and she hasn't posted it on the internets... I think it's an interesting glimpse at the life of a stranger.

i second Luke. parents take photo's of there kids doing things, growing up, anything, documenting their progression through life. just so happens this particular parent has a finer eye for photography. i think its a great collection of photos. something that she would be proud of i think. i would be. i dont know anyone that has this greater documentation of not just there growth but everything that goes with it. you get a real sense of the type of person she is in each stage of her life. werd. shut up jay. OK.

just to say - i do agree... it is not VERY creepy... but hey i just learnt about that story this morning... its kind of fresh
I do like that they show a more intimate portrait then most family photos... a normal chronology would probably fill out a few baby books, family travel albums, birthdays and graduations... it would be great to look at my own history of family photos and have a more 'romantic' collection than the one thats currently there.. (full of red eye, pulling faces and of 'funny if you were there pics'). all are sentimental in their own right and i do admire her dads interest in portraying his subject... but i also find it interesting how close he gets and the images he chooses.. there are no family shots.. instead pics of what looks like a first boyfriend.. having a smoke at 16... an embrace between two people that dont seem to see the photographer there
