Photographer Anna Skladmann's Little Adults series is a bit disconcerting at times, a little creepy, and very clever. The images of children dressed up as adults is innocent enough, but their expressions and poses are where the photographs become a little unsettling.
Skladmann says that her series illustrates what childhood in an elite class is like in Russia; where "radical history and social hierarchy still rules their daily lives". The kids of the Nouveau-Riche apparently dress and act as minature grown-ups. The collection of images show just how contrived and unnatural it is, and you can almost see the kids daydreaming of climbming trees and water fights.
