This album was a kind of mistake. Justin Vernon had planned to quietly hibernate for the winter in a cabin in the remote woods of North-Western Wisconsin, but his pseudonym Bon Iver (pronounced bon eevair is meant to be a version of the French "bon hiver" or "hiver bon", meaning "good winter") was born in that icy winter, as was the album For Emma, Forever Ago.
It's a haunting, profound, melancholy and personal mix of songs that wander through themes of heartbreak, love, loss and guilt without sounding like teen angst. And kind people at Inertia have given us Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago to share with you on Lifelounge Radio.
