Breakfast Love << Back John Huck Sep 05, 2007 at 06:44 If for some reason I could only have one meal a day it would most definitely be a cooked breakfast. When it's good, it's by far my favourite meal of the day to both eat and cook. That's one of the reasons why I immediately warmed to Californian photographer John Huck's Breakfast project. For the project, Huck chronicled the eating habits of more than 100 of his friends by photographing both them and their food at the beginning of their days and collating them into a large collection of images. It's actually really interesting and insightful to see how some people choose to start their day. His website also showcases a more recent project entitled Couples, where he once again used his friends as subjects. At the time he happened to be part of a particular group of friends who had broken up and gotten together with once another at some point over the last few years. The project was initially conceived as a cynical look into the nature of relationships but as it developed he began to realise that some people are actually happy together. Of the 70 couples photographed about 20 percent have broken up since the photos were taken. “One friend had a horrible breakup with her girlfriend a couple of days after I shot them and immediately begged me to take her out of the exhibit,” he says. “I tried to convince her to change her mind, but she said, ‘I do not want to be in any way associated with that woman for the rest of my life.’ Who we choose to partner with is immensely personal, and we don’t always make good decisions.” To see more of his work visit his website here via Posted By: Luke Lucas Tags: Photography, Websites, People Send to Friend Add to Favourites Flag as Inappropriate Rate this 0 0
