The Chung (David Chung) often focuses on humiliation, anguish or despair in his paintings but also manages to purvey the humour and ridiculousness of situations when you wish the ground would open and swallow you whole. In fact, Chung certainly doesn't shy away from the ridiculous and absurd, after looking through his portfolio of awkward role-play sex situations, monkeys shooting eye-crust at weird condom-shaped creatures, and mums vomiting on their kids at meat markets; you won't be left wondering where the weird was.
Not only is the subject matter eight kinds of crazy, the artworks' titles are too. Keep your eye out for gems like Only Desiree and Banana Slug Know of the Secret Unlimited Corndog Giving Tree and Dropping Off the Kids in the River of Milk, Because Nobody Likes the Heels of a Loaf.
Spending his childhood between Hong Kong, Taiwan and New York, Chung is now based in Los Angeles and has sold his work to the likes of Kevin Smith.
