A world without logos Dec 19, 2007 at 02:11
According to the Union of Concerned Scientists "The average American is exposed to about 3000 advertising messages a day, and globally corporations spend over $620 billion each year to make their products seem sdesirable and to get us to buy them." Not sure how accurate that is but if its even close to true its a pretty amazing statistic when you think about it. I'm guessing NY artist Derek Stroup was making a statement about the idea of this when he  decided to remove all traces of branding from well known chip and candy bar wrappers in a photographic series he produced a couple of years back.

It's a true sign of successful marketing if a product can be recognised just by a hint of colour or shape of a wrapper. It's something that Absolut has done incredibly well. Check out some samples Derek's Candy and Chips series to the right of this post  ---->
I can spot the Snickers and M&M's but am not too sure about the other ones though. See if you can pick the others and for more info visit Derek Stroup's website
