In his latest series Robots & Donuts, Eric Joyner flies us first class to planet Donut where happy retro robots rule in a land of deep fried dough and icing, motorcycles and catastrophe. The 48 year old San Francisco based artist paints his child like obsession with the post war toys of the 50s and 60s and combines them in fantastic retro futurist world of science fiction and donuts. Pretty much the most awesome combination ever.
All of the paintings from this series have been placed into a large 176 page full color book aptly called
Robots & Donuts - The art of Eric Joyner which at $24.95 is pretty reasonable if you ask me. Also a few of the original oil paintings on wood panel are still available through
Corey Helford Gallery from his recent show there if you're particularly cashed up ($4k +).
