| Between shiny and grimy |

Graeme Mitchell takes photos of a kind of half-way New York; his images are somewhere between the sleek and shiny and the rough and grimy. His grainy black and white images are neither iconic New York landmarks nor postcard-style compositions, they are often entirely about a character or a mood - the place and person seem somewhat incidental.
Mitchell actually studied literature and since became a professional photographer focusing mostly on fashion and portrait photography but says he is "enthusiastic about traditional black and white work [and] challenging his subjects".
