Aside from having the most Italian sounding name in the history of the world, Franco Brambilla is nice with the Photoshop and 3D illustrations. The co-founder of Airstudio creative, he stacks cash running a gallery space (Limited No Art in Milan), illustrating sci-fi books and doing corporate gigs.
While that’s all fine and dandy, it’s his 'reappropriation' of vintage postcards that’s caught our attention. Basically, he’s taken a bunch of dusty postcards and spruced them up with schlocky science fiction. B-movie monsters have been dragged to the South of France. Tokusatsu style characters have been teleported to South Beach and the Bavarian countryside has been overrun with War of Worlds rejects.
Yeah it’s all super cheesy, but in a good way – like pouring a quart of vodka into your frozen coke before going to see Ice Age 3... In 3D!
