"Oozing style only a diverse musical knowledge base could provide, Color

Jimmy Edgar, junior wunderkind of the Warp stable, is someone I really want to hate. Signed to Warp when he was 19 years old, Jimmy is prolific not only in the realm of music, but also runs his own fashion label, graphic design and photography studio, and has performed alongside Detroit greats such as Derrick May and Juan Atkins since he was 15. Now at the ripe old age of 22, Jimmy delivers his debut LP, Color Strip, continuing his long line of successes with remarkable aplomb. An excellent debut it is too, brimming with futuristic electro sleaze, and enough cut-up vocal samples and amazingly intricate beat work to keep even the most fervent IDM geek satisfied. Oozing style only a diverse musical knowledge base could provide, Color Strip displays a variety of influences, from the glitch pioneered by stable mates such as Aphex Twin, to the Detroit house shaped by masters like Stacey Pullen, along with 80s synth pop and the braggadocio of modern R&B. Even if he fails in all his other pursuits, Jimmy can sleep easy knowing that he will have at least left a glowing mark on the musical landscape as his legacy. Fucking overachievers. Dimitri Kalagas
