There's a lot of love for M.I.A. (easily one of the coolest ladies in music) here at Lifelounge. We worry about her songs being fucked with. We get excited when lost songs are released. We search for footage of her. We love a M.I.A. We also (since reading back on this paragraph) seem like creepy M.I.A. stalker freaks.
Her 'Paper Planes' video launched today on MTV and has since been ripped to pieces by viewers, and even M.I.A. herself got in on the action. From comments on the interweb about how M.I.A. has sold out, how the gunshot sounds in the song had been softened, how she'd been censored, to M.I.A. herself saying her video has been sabotaged–
"I check YouTube and see the leaked MTV 'Paper Planes' video up for the first time. I clicked it and out comes this fucked up mess with double-tracked bullshit mess. Who the fuck is doing this to me?????? The video was sabotaged for whatever reason and I'm disappointed that MTV had had such a major role in this".
Check out the full, angry, post on her myspace. Meanwhile, this is the version of 'Paper Planes' posted by M.I.A. herself today.
And keep a keen eye out for a superstar(s) cameo...
