There's not a lot to hate about Michael DeForge. His illustrations are sometimes sweet, sometimes a little gross, always interesting, and his moniker is delightful.
The Toronto-based artist cleverly creates artworks that span across the artsy to the cutesy and everywhere in-between. He also seems to have quite the sense of humour and doesn't fall into the Precious Artist category; on his blog he has a series of dim sum illustrations (which are, incidentally, too cute to eat) and his description "I think the Ha Gao got a little weird" kind of proves that. He then goes on to describe a bright and fabulous illustration as "shitty". Then another winner, "I wanted to involve salad somehow." I think I kind of love him.
