El Guincho's Alegranza! was almost not released until Félix Ruiz III heard the album and poured his life savings into it to make sure we all got to hear it. Lucky too, because the album will take you on a mini tropical holiday where the drinks are cheap and the sunshine's free.
Drenched in syrupy sweetness, these tracks are the perfect antidote to the miserable grey skies outside and the maudlin feelings that come along with the daily newspaper.
El Guincho is originally from the Canary Islands, but now makes his clattering tropical pop in Barcelona. He'll be touring Australia later this year, but until then keep your eyes and ears alert for Alegranza!
