Nathan Fake "Fake has delivered on his debut LP Drowning in a Sea of Love, producing beautiful gauzy synth filled dreamscapes that steer very directly away from the realm of dance floor friendly 4/4 beats and into a region more likely to be populated by artists such as M83 and Boards Of Canada."

Drowning In A Sea Of Love By: Dimitri Kalagas

Although 22-year-old Nathan Fake has been producing progressive techno and house for a number of years now, he arguably burst into the musical consciousness last year with Border Community founder, James Holden’s epic remix of his track ‘The sky was pink’. Following up such a release would be a daunting task for the most experienced of producers; however Fake has delivered on his debut LP Drowning in a Sea of Love, producing beautiful gauzy synth filled dreamscapes that steer very directly away from the realm of dance floor friendly 4/4 beats and into a region more likely to be populated by artists such as M83 and Boards Of Canada. Fake has fashioned a sound that at times could almost be described as post techno, with intricate moments of IDM scattered throughout; however, he does this without ever allowing the production to get too heavy or overwrought, resulting in a beautifully buoyant, yet substantial LP.
