I'm pretty sure that Jovi Schnell has made the female reproductive system look like the prettiest thing I ever saw (image one). Part mechanical, part flora, part I don't know what, Schnell's paintings, illustrations and collages use rainbows of colours and mix geometric shapes with organic ones to create images that are pretty much amazing.

Schnell's work is inspired by "mythical tales, spiritual icons, evolutionary biology, discoveries of the universe, poetry, history, ecology and technology". She's studied art everywhere from Prague to San Francisco to Amsterdam; has had her work exhibited in the US, UK and Europe; and now teaches at the The San Francisco Art Institute, California College of the Arts, and UC Berkeley.
