Shusei Nagaoka was a mild mannered Japanese illustrator with a love of science fiction and space ships. He was born in 1936, made a comfortable living with his corporate gig and enjoyed a sensible life. Then he went to the US...
Invited to Los Angeles by some acid casualty rock band, Shusei was supposed to hang out, meet some people, maybe draw a couple of pictures and then go home. He ended up staying on for over a decade, working with both corporate clients and notorious druggies like E.L.O., Jefferson Starship, Earth Wind and Fire and Deep Purple. If his images of women riding magic dragons while smoking pipes are any indication, he had a hell of a time.
