Sometimes Cosplay doesn’t suck
<< Back
Kipi likes to dress up Aug 12, 2009 at 12:25
OK, this may be massive generalisation, but the Japanese seem a lot more enthusiastic about ‘stuff’ than people in the West. Whatever they’re into; making cars go sideways, playing Street Fighter 2 competitively, weird sex shit, dressing up, they totally immerse themselves in that culture.

Speaking of dressing up, the Cosplay thing over in Japan is ridiculous. Costume-play may have originated with super nerds at US comic-cons in the early 80s, but it took the Japanese and their ‘can-do’ attitude to get it right. Attend a comic convention in Australia and you’ll find sweaty World of Warcraft fans doing nasty things to cheap Lycra. Over in Japan you’ll find Kipi – Queen of Cosplay.

Kipi is based in Tokyo, works as a professional Cosplay model and has won several industry awards. Basically, she’s that videogame/anime/manga character you used to have bad/illegal thoughts about – but for reals. Also, she’s 21, so it’s all above board and no one has to go to jail.

I don't understand this Cosplay thing. At all. Also, it gives me the heebie jeebies. Also, Kipi is very pretty. Also, the guy dressed as Sailor Moon is actually amazing.

Sorry, I was about to tee off, but I misread the title. I thought it said "Sometimes Coldplay doesn't suck". Carry on.

Sorry KO, can't be funny all the time.

Defensive. It was a "Bah! That's funny." not a "Bah! That's lame."

I found this great site to buy cosplay wigs on- my credit card hand was itching like a mutha.

at a the main train station in Ravena italy I found this Anime magazine that had all these fanmade illustrations of videogame girls. Except they were all hardcore porn situations, where each character was actually a Haemaphrodite. Some weird weird ilustrations, I'd post the images but they are far too offensive.

In japan they even have girls cosplaying as they hand out flyers for shops and things to buy. One on every corner.

As a boy who grew up on video games, I wholeheartedly give cosplay the seal of approval ^_^ My fav is definitely Sailor Moon man and Gundam box dude though lol - Jake OXOXO

If you want to up the creepiness factor, you can get Japanese hookers in cosplay character. Read that somewhere - not really surprised. But it is a whole extra level of disturbing.

Somebody please explain what the guy on last picture is trying to say?.. or prove?
False Respect
Perhaps it's a cry for help?

or a desperate cry for the end to the war between the United Earth Sphere Alliance and the Colonies in the year AC 133.

He's saying "Check it out! I found a box!"

Don't take the piss outta the last guy. For all we know, that could be his home, and kids might throw things at the lonely "box-man".
