Chrissie Miller originally set out just to make a few tee-shirts for
her close friends, but her label gained so much interest (from
retailers, celebrities and the media) that it has since
become Sophomore; an uber popular, sporty, New York-ish, 70s-vibed
collection of men's and women's clothing. Now the Sophomore team is Miller and Madeleine von Froomer, making clothes in bright colours, simple designs, soft fabrics, that are all closely tied to the label's classic inspiration. Straight-up tees, short shorts, easy cardigans, laid-back hoodies, all the usual suspects are there.
The clothes might not blow your mind, but they are essentially wearable (which is useful) and while the 2008 Lookbook does feature Bijou Phillips (who I have a massive problem with*) the images by Cass Bird are awesome. *Phillips was recently quoted as saying "The people in the Czech Republic are fucking assholes. Every person from every country that has gone to the Czech Republic thinks the people there are assholes". Yes Bijou, and you're a member of Mensa, the president of Argentina, and a unicorn.
