Remember how awesome the future was going to be? We were all supposed to live on the moon, have sex robots and only work four hours a week. That's what the sci-fi novels from the 1960s promised. Obviously, things didn’t quite work out that way...
Still, you have to spare a thought for the Spanish. According to their schlocky aspirations, the new millennium would see women walking around the moon in heels and men fighting giant alien plants with laser guns. That’s what the covers from the 1960s El Mundo Futuro (World of the Future) comic series seem to indicate.
No wonder the Spanish are a bit funny in the head – they’re even more bitterly disappointed than the rest of us.
