Travis Louie and his 19th century imaginary friends
Creepy Portraits May 17, 2008 at 04:12
Reminiscent of wet plate photography from the Victorian era, Travis Louie's portraits have an unsual vintage quality. His monochromatic paintings feature imaginary mutant manimals and monsters posing like upperclass society types from the 19th century that very well could  have existed back in the day. ... Read on
Walter Pug - Walter was an average Victorian pug, until he woke up from a lazy Sunday afternoon and discovered that his upper front teeth had grown to an almost unmanageable size. After he got used to them, he became quite proud of them and displayed them, whenever he had the opportunity

Naven - Naven's anxiety about spiders began when he was a small boy in Yorkshire. While helping his father with some masonry work at the local church, he was bitten by a brown spider just at the top of his head. As a result, he lost the pigmentation in his eyes along with most of the hair surrounding the bite, which did not grow back. He spent the rest of his youth wearing hats , answering questions about his unusual circumstances, and of course, avoiding spiders.
Smokey
Karl the Humanzee - Karl was discovered working as a servant for a mostly blind aristocrat who had recently returned from India. When the Zoological Society approached her about Karl, she had no idea of what they were talking about. She thought his tanned, weathered appearance was a result of his work as a day laborer.

Stephen of Unsual Circumstances
Gill - Not much is known about Gill. He first appeared at Coney Island, working at Luna Park as an extra in the Aquacade show. His co-workers found him to be extremely kind, generous, and always a good laugh. When the park burned down, it was assumed that he met his demise.
Reginald Whiskers McPherson - Reginald could hold his breath for over an hour and crack open oyster shells on his chest. He loved eating catfish and preferred single-malt Scotch. He had an unusual gait (his arms flailed a bit and he shuffled his feet like an unbalanced penguin) Despite his repulsive body odor, he was the most popular professor during his tenure at Cambridge. His inventions and discoveries garnered him great fame, great wealth, and a knighthood.
Norman and Jenkins - Norman lived in a small cottage outside of London that he shared with his pet Weta, Jenkins,( a large cricket-like insect native to islands in and around New Zealand) Unlike ordinary insects, Jenkins had the ability to control people's minds.

Miss Bunny circa 1896 - Miss Bunny wandered out of the woods near Hastings in 1893 to look for her family. They were devoured by wild dogs. She was adopted by a wealthy family and was sent to a boarding school. During that time she took up acting and after graduation became a popular London stage actress. She retired to a farm in Southern England.
Mr Enthusiasm - In 1873, Karl Froman woke up from a long nap and didn't sleep again for almost nine years. After long bouts of insomnia, . . . he developed an unusual amount of enthusiasm for all things. He wandered around the English countryside, cheering strangers on through the most mundane of tasks, like sweeping or rat-catching. The townspeople eventually got used to his constant applause and even created a holiday in his honor called Happy Day.
Richard the Small - Richard was small for an ogre. At only seven feet, eight inches tall, he had to look up to his peers (the average height of a Victorian Ogre was 14 feet).
