The Roots announce retirement
<< Back
from touring Nov 17, 2008 at 10:01
Let's play Jeopardy! Answer: Katy Perry, My Chemical Romance, Nickelback, Good Charlotte, The Rogue Traders, the Pussycat Dolls. Question: Musicians that we'd rather retire long before the Roots.

One of the most prolific and touringest hip hop bands in the world, the Roots are calling an end to their touring career as of March next year. The decision was made to accommodate for their new night as Jimmy Fallon's house band when he takes over from Conan O'Brien as host of Late Night.

So even though they seem to have visited our fair shores almost once a year, this summer might be your last chance.

I'm hoping it's a Jay-Z stunt and they want us to know we don't realize how badly we can miss something until it's gone.

Whatever, guys. Deep down you know they haven't released a decent album since Things Fall Apart.

big deal they have become lame anyway.
True Respect
You're right maybe they should've went the Kanye route.

Disagree Ryz, what about Phrenology?
False Advanced Member
Phrenology had a couple of decent tracks, but by that time they had pretty much fully succumbed to Baduizm...

Phrenology was the last great thing they released. But (albums aside) their live show, was revolutionary; bringing jam band style sets, and live instuments into the hip hop scene. They changed the game, people should respect that, and not just blow them off because the last 3 records were mediocre. I hope that bit about them being Fallon's talk show band is a bad joke. Seeing them reduced to that shit would be terrible.
True Respect
Fallon is funny and the last three albums they did is better then most garbage out there today.
