Jamie Driver - Constantly afraid of blogging, I shun the fear and move forward regardless. This is a blog about old school loves, new school technologies and things that make me belly laugh. Enjoy, but not too much.

The morbid works of Alison Brady
<< Back
Photography Mar 20, 2008 at 02:39
Unlike the other famous Bradys, Alison has a morbid fascination for the macabre. Her mostly faceless subjects are the victims of violent crimes fit for any b grade horror film or thriller. She uses typically suburban backdrops for her scenes of death and mutilation combined with sweet as pie styling to create beautiful and horrific images. She has no problem smearing chocolate syrup over a complete strangers legs and asking them climb in to a clothes dryer or stuffing various body parts into uncomfortable places .

"I strive to create dichotomies between the sensual and the horrific, the beautiful and the destructive"

And for that I think she does a pretty good job. For some samples of her work check out the thumbnail images to the right of this post and for more visit alisonbrady.com

I love Brady's unique approach at portraying life, I love the awkwardness, the vulnerability & ther overall aesthical appeal...maybe I have a warped sense of appeal though

Brady's perfectly stylised images of death evoke a David Lynch-like suburban underworld of psychosexual morbididity. Magnifique!
