Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - TLC 1994
15/12/2008 4:09:52 PM
I wanted to be Left-Eye. SO BADLY. But what were the silky jimmy-jams all about? Not that it really mattered; their baggy-jeaned two-step was to die for.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Kriss Kross 1992

These little manchildren are really weird to watch now. Just saying.

'Jump' wasn't my first choice though. Pretty much wanted to go with 'I Missed the Bus' with its plentiful backwards attire and because it's an an anthem for anxious kids; "I'm stuck at the crib and I don't know what to do. I missed the bus and it's something that I'll never ever ever ever do again." OK. Nerd.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Color Me Badd 1991
9/12/2008 11:52:22 AM
They look like an episode of Sesame Street when Grover is teaching the colours, their boxy suits are about eight times too big for them (the must have missed the episode about counting), but their outfits pale in comparison to some of the early-90s dress shirts in the crowd. But then again, who's even looking at hilarious fashion from yesteryear when there's the running man going on?

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Jeremy Jordan 1993

Is Jeremy Jordan some kind of Bi-Lo brand Mark Wahlberg with a little dash of Bros, and a Hitler youth version of Peter Andre? Yes. He is.

Oh and open your shirt a little more, Jer; we need more nipple.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Everclear 1995

Remember this? Remember this? Remember how Everclear were somehow kind of cool even though the lead singer seemed like a massive creep and teen girls DEFINITELY didn't get crushes on him because he was lacking the fresh-faced baby charm that was so popular circa 1995 (a la Leonardo DiCaprio and Eddie Furlong)? I do.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Kelis 1999

How out of control cool was Kelis circa 1999? Her blonde and pink afro, her ridiculous glasses, her screaming and wailing and throwing and breaking shit, her "Don't even try fucking with me" strut, the fact that she managed to make a freaking straight-jacket look sexy. Some ladies still belong to the sisterhood and with her team of women storming the streets, Kelis is on the board of directors.

The is one of the greatest fuck off songs ever. Don't bother playing it if you're going to do it quietly.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - No Doubt 1996

Not so much guilty as it is a pleasure. This song was written with Stefani locked in a bathroom and Tony Kanal on the other side during their break-up. Here is a list of things I love about this: the drum intro, the double-clap, the screaming, the line "You want me badly but you cannot have me", Gwen's double leopard print, the fact that she chops in time, her weird freak out moment, the food fight. Listen the fuck up.

Gwen Stefani is very March 8th.

Guilty Pleasures of Yesteryear - Diana King 1994

An almost completely forgotten song from Bad Boys until this weekend when a very modern gentleman played it at a club. Somehow it was way less lame when everybody was drunk and dancing and it was really loud. Happy birthday Sketchenry, and thanks for the flashback to 1994.

This song is so freaking perky will either make you gay or make you punch somebody.

Only out-perked, out-pepped and out-cuted by the Sesame Street version. R.E.M. 'Furry Happy Monsters':
