Vincent Laforet reminds us all how tiny and insignificant we really are
<< Back
Perspectives Oct 01, 2008 at 03:43
It's almost a year after we first came across Vincent Laforet's Perspective series and they still blow me away. Well worthy of a solid rehash if you ask me. With a simple shift of perspective and scale, otherwise ordinary everyday happenning take on an extraordinary new meaning. Armed with undoubtedly one of the longest lenses in the free world and I'm guessing a helicopter, Laforet's able to turn our world on it's head reducing us all to blobs of colour, texture and shape in a most humbling and beautiful way.

Check some samples from the series to the right of this post and for more Laforet cleverness visit laforetvisuals.com

I love his work. The pictures a little bit remind me of Where's Wally?

Yeah I agree. I really like how the shadows are working in the ice skating shot (10)

You would swear some of them are models, not the real thing.

The top shot remind me of the awesome camel shot (in a desert, not a girls pants) on this TED talk (http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/david_griffin_on_how_photography_connects.html) I still am totally mesmerised by perspective shots that make everything look smaller. He could just do that for the rest of his life and I'd be the biggest fan ever!!! - Jake XOOX

there is something a little weird about lots of people lying on a beach when you look at it like this.
