| Electric Wire Hustle proves that NZ ain’t that bad |
Oct 01, 2009 at 08:22 |
The whole OZ vs NZ thing has been going on since (nearly) the beginning of time, and with the music that’s been coming out of the latter of late, it pains us to say that they look like they might be sneaking ahead. Electric Wire Hustle is yet another ‘eff you’ from New Zealand to Australia, the group taking one for the team and receiving international kudos and airplay from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Benji B.
The three-piece, made up of Taay Ninh, Mara TK and Myele Manzanza output a sound on the soulful tip, and an indication of what they’re about can be felt via the people they’ve worked with: Om'Mas Keith (Sa-Ra Creative Partners), Waajeed (Platinum Pied Pipers), Steve Spacek (luckily he is Sydney-based so not all face has been lost in the battle) and Recloose. Electric Wire Hustle has just released their self-titled album, which is a glorious 13-track spread that includes the single ‘Perception’ as brought to you three lines below.
