Talking Heads
10/23/2009 4:15:47 PM
Here is a great little edit by the king of edits Mr. Greg Wilson. This time he re-works a classic Talking Heads tune, using the live version and giving his Wilson touch.

Hope this helps on this sunny Friday afternoon.

PHB vs MUNK
10/16/2009 2:38:25 PM
Choice little remix right here people. The German outfit, Munk, do the Phenomenal Handclap Band much justice with their take on 'You'll Disappear'.

Speaking of The Phenomenal Handclap Clap, a band which I can't seem to get enough lately, they'll be playing in Melbourne town early January. Make sure you snap up em' tickets fast!

Low Budget and The Psyde Projects Espy Residency
10/6/2009 1:12:18 PM
Join Low Budget and The Psyde Projects at their Sunday night residency at The Espy. As the weather gets warmer, the sun shines longer and the beer runs deeper, the music gets louder.

Every Sunday night see two of Melbourne's premier hip-hop acts do their 'thang' for free!

Low Budget of course are proving to be Australia's dopest hip-hop duo blending their unique taste for synth-laden boogie basslines and neck-snappin' loops with the ruggedness of the OZ vernacular. While The Psyde Projects are taking it back to the golden age of funk-influenced loops and party rhymes together with MPC breakdowns and live remixing.

Check out below a couple of their joints plus a bmore remix by DJ Crater.

Low Budget – Tailor Made

The Psyde Projects – Holiday

Coconuts and Pinapple Juice
10/6/2009 12:55:37 PM
Pharoah Zap is back in da mutha %$&#^$' house! After releasing his funky flesh disco edits, Mr. Zap decided to take a hiatus and go on holidays. Originally planned for the Caribbean, he eventually found himself in the 'Caribbean of the South' in Scoresby.

His music has taken a decidedly 'fruity' twist as most of his joints seem to invoke a 'sit back and relax with your pina colada in hand, shades on and the sun's rays pouring onto you' kinda vibe.

What's more, is that you can witness the tropical slush of his Discreole EP this Friday at First Floor at Tropical Island Discotheque! Feat fruity supports from Ms Butt, Lewis Can Cut, TPC, Dizzy Dee, Mafia, Burn City Queens, and Lady Fingers DJs!!!

Below is a taste of what to expect. Also available to download.

Dig it good!

Melting point
10/1/2009 11:57:59 AM
As the weather gets progressively warmer, our moods change and we sweat more. So here is a song that embodies these changes.

This is a killer edit of The Lovin' Spoonful song 'Summer in the City' by Peter Visti. Mr. Visti releases goodies on the Eskimo Recordings label which also employs the likes of Allez Allez, Lindstrom, Aeroplane & Prins Thomas.

The tune is dope, the groove maintains as the tune slowly builds up to the 'Summer in the City' drop. Classic.

Drop it like it's hot.

Get it?

DJ Crater

New B-more EP by DJ Crater. You can download the EP from the net. Just google it.

Meanwhile, check out one of the joints off the EP. It's a little punchy and abrasive needless to say...

Cumbia Can Cut
9/8/2009 5:29:18 PM
OK, so my homie L-Can Cut is single-handedly pushin' the cumbia club scene here in Melbourne. What's more he's also producing some awesome cumbia heat as well, to the point that, after hearing his track on The Facebeard – Neckbeard blog, I couldn't believe it was by Lewis. It sounded organic and authentic in that fine South American fashion.

Anyway check out this little number my Lewis, it's pure fire and will ignite the Colombian in anyone!

Next is a tune by King Coya called Cumbiatron and every time I hear it, it definitely strikes a mood chord in me. It's very dark, but in a cool cumbian way.
