My Yeah Yeah Yeahs dilemma 4/20/2009 2:10:01 PM

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have a new album, did you know? It's Blitz!

Here's my dilemma.

After reading our review and listening to It's Blitz! a bunch of times, I was nervous that Karen O might just be the weakest link this time around. Lets be honest, the lyrics in a lot of their new tracks are terrible. Sometimes beyond terrible. I mean, "Shake it like a ladder to the sun, makes me feel like a mad man on the run" is bad, but it's not even the worst lyric in that track!

To contrast, the other two pieces of this NY three piece are über amazing on this album. Conundrum!

Despite Nick Zinner looking like a man that hasn't uttered a single word in years and the fact that he's so close to the wings he's barely even on the stage when they perform, he's still six different types of brilliant. (FYI he once drew me a picture.)

So when you've got Brian's drumming and Nick Zinner's everything and there is so much good between those two alone, I began to wonder if Karen O just has zany outfits and good hair?

AND THEN I WATCHED THEM LIVE VIA YOUTUBE.

You almost don't know who to watch. Between the drum fills, Zinner's broody stance and Karen O standing center stage like a NY art rock goddess, it's hotter than that day in summer when Toby got his gear off and ate a schnitzel.

And it's the same watching them on perform Letterman and SNL. (So amazing even Paul Schaffer (!) refers to her as, "rad".)

Crisis over people, because the moral of the story is, I got goosebumps. As soon as she even breathes into the microphone you can't help but fall in love. Swoonsville: population, me.

She is by no means the weakest link! She's hot and sassy and I can't wait for them to tour. Again.

Ariel, you almost had me there. I thought there was quite a negatory bombshell about to be dropped. But everyone knows the only things being dropped by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are bomb TRACKS. Yeah. Yeah. Yeahs.

LOVE them! I listen to Phenomena everytime I get in my car. =) I'd be so upset if they started sucking.
