We love to rag on Americans down here in Aus. It's pretty much a national pastime. Like hating the Prime Minister or eating vegemite. But what we seem to forget is that amongst the Hollywood shite, the over the top E News style big teeth fake tanned presenters, and the countless yawn-fest sitcoms, there are actually some very funny people in the States.

This little clip of a bit on the Jimmy Kimmel show is freaking hilarious and proves, to me at least, that's there hope yet for the good ole US of A!

Planet Earth
23/02/2008 1:19:47 PM
I bought the BBC Planet Earth series box-set last weekend and have been watching it all week. It's astonishing. i saw a couple of them when they aired, but had no idea how many they had made. It's simply the best series about nature I've ever personally seen. The shots are so beautiful at times it makes you stop breathing. The Humpback whale shots in particular almost made my brain melt they were so beautiful. I don't even have words to explain how cool this show is. If you haven't seen them then go buy it. you will not be disappointed!

ps. the images are from the BBC site, which doesn't work to well for non-UK users. the shots below don't do any justice what-so-ever to the series. although that's a very nice looking tiger.

Sold out

I got an email from the Copro Nason Gallery in LA this morning. It was about the Audrey Kawasaki exhibition which is opening this weekend. The email stated how all the original art (and most of the prints) were already sold, even though the exhibition hadn't even opened yet. I personally find this to be a pretty lame way to run an exhibition.

Selling all the work before hand kind of defeats the purpose of having an exhibition at all. Why not just put all the work online for sale? Ok, yes, you can still go and check out the work, but, in my mind at least, it would definitely be way less exciting knowing that you can't even think of buying something, even if you never intended to anyway. I love being at an exhibition opening and feeling that urge deep down in your belly to splurge and buy something, even though you know your bank balance can't handle it. That makes a show way more exciting. Walking into a show where the red-dots are up even before the work is hung is pretty lame in my book. And sadly this is becoming a more regular occurrence in many galleries.

I'm keen to hear people thoughts on this? Agree? Disagree? Think i should shut the hell up?

Hello Lifeloungers

A hearty hello to everyone and thanks to the Lifelounge crew for allowing me to put my words of wisdom on this blog. I say that extremely tongue in cheek because I doubt there will be much wisdom shown. Bit I'll do my best. More soon.
