So, to get the ball rolling I'll post what i believe is the single best photo I've ever taken. It was taken on a Canon EOS 300D.

I like it so much, i turned it into a poster ...

Feel free to post up more than one and show us what you've got!

Its kind of relevant too as i spend 9 hours of my day in St Kilda.

I guess the hard thing in retrospect now looking at these is that subject matter normally outweighs talent (in my opinion...) The reality is that these shots were never that amazing bar a few things.

a) the subject matter was beautiful
b) the film choice helped mood
c) it's film

To back this up, you could shoot a hot naked person, and people would love it, as it is a hot, naked person. Not because the lighting and talent equaled the shot... anyhow, many thoughts on this topic. Stay tuned for more pics of hot naked people...

Camera used: Nikon F5
Film (from memory!): Agfa B&W 1000 ISO

This is just a random bunch of shots from various places at various times with various cameras. Mostly I just use my Sony DSC-N1 with a handy little touch screen, for photos on the run. I know it's digital and a point and click and will never really compare to film, but it's fucking convenient, and has full manual overrides for everything, so it's pretty versatile.

Well I started on a Nikon F4, second hand, and really fell in love with them. All my skate buddies shot on the Canon EOS platform, and I always felt like an outsider, but when I realised that the world's top Jerno's used them I felt a little better! I moved to a Nikon F5 when they first came out and am still in love with it.

When the digital age dawned, I was slow to take it up, but we finally got a Nikon D2X, which I still firmly believe i have no idea how to get the most out of it. I will still get better results from an old school camera with beautiful Velvia in it than the D2X, but I did just work out how to shoot in raw (dickhed!) and when importing into photoshop it makes life SO MUCH easier. but isn't that cheating????

The other issue is that I still need to get ALL DIGITAL lenses, flashes etc as my stuff for the F5 is not completly compatible with the D2X... More $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just to add to that, I still think no one beats the 3D colour matrix balancing from Nikon!

F5 are nice cameras. I saw a 2nd hand one the other week but didn't have cashola on me to buy it. The D2X is a top notch body! I am close to buying a d200 but i dont really need the extra mp.

I don't go near a canon. I dislike them, sure the L series lenses look nice big and grey and you can show the whole world u mean business with them but the only camera i would ever touch from canon is the 5d. The rest of them i don't like the way the bodies are built. The lower end Eos are way to plastic and didn't sit well in my hands and i didn't like the non L Series lenses. I guess it's like the PC Mac debate, Nikon being the macs of the camera world.

I have my camera calibrated these days so i don't touch up much in PS and its mostly composed in the camera except for when i add vignetting.

And i thought you could use old nikkors with digital range of slrs except the metering doesn't work? I tried an old 14mm non AS nikkor a while back and it worked well. Is it just the D2X? Yeah and lenses..argh i need my primes which mean $$$$$$$$$$$ which means missers not happy!

No the old lenses don't work properly, non-digital and also get cropping from them, annoying.
