turtlehead's most newest t-shirt May 08, 2008 at 11:37
To celebrate the arrival of the sun here in the northern hemisphere we are launching our first t-shirt designed by Australia's own - Adam Cruickshank. His "mountain man" t-shirt is our first climate neutral, 100% organic t-shirt.

Adam Cruickshank is an artist who usually lives in Melbourne, but is currently living in Berlin. He dropped out of art school in Australia in the early 90s and has been exhibiting ever since. He's designed t-shirts for Sneaker Freaker, Lifelounge, 2x4, Mambo, Threadless Select, Semi-Permanent and now us.

This is our first design to be printed on ethically made, carbon and climate neutral 100% organic cotton. The cotton is grown on 'low impact' farms in India where the cotton is planted and harvested by hand. When the cotton goes to through the manufacturing process the factories are powered by 30 massive wind turbines that generates a continuous source of renewable energy. 95% of the water used in the production comes from monsoon rain, and the water used in processing the dye takes place in a purification system that converts the waste water into clean water that can be reused. All the packaging used from start to finish is made from recycled cardboard and none of the finished t-shirts are transported by air so the carbon footprint is negligible.
